《好兵》是英国现代主义开山大师福特的匠心之作。一直以来,评论界对于该作品主题研究多集中于伦理学、存在主义哲学等领域,探究作品内蕴含的有关新旧大陆文化冲突的“国际主题”研究则相对较少。本文试着重回19世纪欧美文化冲突的时代现场,以后殖民批评理论为研究视阙,聚焦于道尔和妻子弗洛伦斯的“他者”视角,重点剖析以主人公道尔夫妇代表的美国式希伯来文化与爱德华夫妇为代表的欧洲式古希腊文化的对立冲突与融合,继而管窥福特对于这两种异质文化的沟通融合的文化建构理想。
“Good Soldier” is the ingenuity of Ford, the mastermind of British modernism. For a long time, critics have mostly focused on ethics and existentialism, and there are relatively few “international topics” about the conflicts between the old and new continents in their works. This paper attempts to return to the scene of the 19th century European and American cultural conflicts era, after the colonial theory of criticism for the study of visual Que, focusing on Doyle and his wife Florence American-style Hebrew culture and Edwardian couple represented the European-style ancient Greek culture, the conflict and confrontation, followed by Ford’s cultural construction of these two heterogeneous cultural fusion ideal.
