淮阴丁集人民公社以拆旧翻新,自力更生、因陋就简、由土到洋的办法,从1958年8月底到10月初,在完成运肥1,500万担、挖地12000亩,搞好田间管理的同时,苦战一月,建成了一批新居民点,(共2,000间)并填好了屋基5,000间。他们准备在今冬再大干一场,继续完成3,000—5,000间新住宅的建设任务。已建成的新住宅,都是土墙草顶的(见照片)二三年之后,将随着生产发展而逐步改建为砖墙瓦顶的房屋。
