丹阳地处江苏省南部,位于东经一百一十九度二十三分至一百一十九度五十三分,北纬三十一度四十四分至三十二度零八分之间。东邻武进,南接金坛,西北与丹徒交界,东北濒长江,与扬中隔江相望。京杭大运河,沪宁铁路自东向西贯穿全境。 丹阳有悠久的历史,从秦始皇二十六年(公元前221年)置云阳县始至今,县名分别作云阳、曲阿、凰美、丹阳。下面综合史籍大略说说丹阳的建置及沿革。 楚威王六年(公元前334年),楚灭越,置云阳邑。秦王政二十四年(公元前223年),秦灭楚,设会稽郡,云阳邑属之。
