Nearly a hundred years ago, a new art movement covering all fields of visual arts and radiating the whole nation was born in Shanghai, a metropolis where cultural figures and artists from all over the world gathered. New Chinese Painting Movement, Western Painting Movement, Emerging Woodcut ... These well-known art movements come and go one after another, and have boarded the stage of history one after another to become part of Shanghai’s urban culture. In the second half of the 19th century, the Westernization Movement gave birth to the first batch of Chinese students in modern times. After decades, it is precisely because of the existence of these Chinese students that foreign new culture and new ideas can be spread in China. During this period, the proportion of foreign students studying art and art in China was relatively small, and there were only a few sculptors studying it, which caused the vacuum state of Chinese modern sculpture for a long period of time.
