“唯女子与小人为难养也”是孔子语录中最具争议也是最被人诟病的一句,直到今天,在大多中国民众心中,它依然是孔子蔑视妇女的“罪证”。对于此句,历代注解《论语》的学者有不同说法,但也不排除为维护孔子的圣人地位而做的刻意回护和人为拔高。其实无论是刻意回护还是故意歪解,都远离了孔子的本意。本文意在从断句及社会背景角度,对这个句子做出全新阐释。 “The only woman and the villain are difficult to raise also ” is the most controversial and most criticized one of Confucius quotations, until today, in most Chinese people’s hearts, it is still “Confucian contempt” of Confucius. For this sentence, scholars of ancient Analects of Confucius have different views, but they also do not rule out intentional repatriation and man-made aspirations for preserving Confucius’s status as a saint. In fact, either deliberately retreat or intentionally distorted, are far from the original intention of Confucius. This article intends to make a new interpretation of this sentence from the point of view of sentence breaking and social background.
