腾冲玉石业历六百年之久,直至今日仍然不衰,经营翡翠加工、贸易的公司、商行、工厂(县属)已逾50个,城关6个街道、城郊洞山及南部荷花等地都是玉器加工业的集中地,每月生产数量以万件计。当地已形成悠久的翡翠生产传统,几乎成为一大经济支柱,尽管前进中有坎坷波折,然而历史的惯性和腾冲的地理人文因素,仍然使该地翡翠业处于时代的风口浪尖上,谱写出一曲曲动人心魄的进行曲,下面从当地流传的话语分别谈谈。
