现代艺术设计专业与产品设计、包装中色彩起着十分重要的作用,它与设计产品造型、图案纹样、材料加工一样,是产品设计的主要内容之一。不同的产品设计本身就包括了不同色彩的设计。而设计色彩与绘画写生色彩既有区别,又有联系。绘画写生色彩是以光照作用下产生的色彩变化为主、对表现物体瞬间引起变化的色彩进行敏锐的捕捉,真实地再现自然物象,绘画者的科学认识与观察是表现写生色彩的正确方式。
