支秉渊（１８９７—１９７１），近代中国机械工业奠基人之一．早年创办新中工程公司，先后主持仿制成中国首台狄塞尔柴油机和高速柴油汽车发动机，并对铁路桥梁工程卓有建树，所发明的架梁新法及其器械沿传于世。抗战时期在湖南祁阳自力更生组建从原材料生产到成品制造门类齐备的联合性企业，并因领导中国内燃机制造的开创性成就获中国工程界最高荣誉奖章．１９５０年参与规划筹建了太原重型机器厂。毕生致力子民族工业，主张学以致用，提倡人才为本，注重实际、实践、实干。在为发展科技兴办实业的长期奋斗中培养造就出机械技术领域的一批行家，以其为典范在社会主义工业初创时期尤其起到了承前启后的重要作用。
