杨卫东1989年从北京科技大学毕业的时候,刚刚开始实行找工作的双向选择,但一般还是由学校统一分配。杨卫东自己给国网天津市电力公司打电话,要求参加电力工作。“那个时候,我应该被分配到钢铁行业,北京科技大学前身是钢铁学院,电力也不是那么吃香,但我还是选择了天津电力。”杨卫东说。选择电力行业是他的理想,“上高中的时候有两个理想,一个是当军医,另外一个就是当电气工程师,我比较喜欢这个专业。”杨卫东回忆说。
