In this paper, we investigated the effect of conditioned media of porcine pulmonary artery endothelial cells on the cytosolic free calcium concentration in porcine pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells ([Ca 2+] i) using Ca 2+ fluorescent probe Fura-2 / AM. To observe the direct effect of hypoxia on [Ca ~ (2 +)] i in pulmonary artery endothelial cells. The results showed that: 1. The endothelial cells cultured in normoxic condition could increase the [Ca2 +] i of smooth muscle cells, whereas the endothelial cells cultured in hypoxia increased significantly compared with those cultured in normoxia
