近闻,南方农村报置种子管理部门的意见于不顾,为根本不适宜大面积种植的“遗传工程稻”作夸大其辞的广告宣传,误导广大群众;其服务部还以每公斤20至36元的高价销售种子,从而酿成广东全省有16个地、市,60个县的农民种植此水稻上千公顷,平均每亩减产425公斤,造成直接经济损失850万元(报道见人民日报1995年9月13日第九版)。作为为农民服务的“农村报”,为了区区一些广告费和经济收入,居然违反国家法律,干出坑害农民利益的勾当,实在令人吃惊和痛心。
