现代图书馆的藏书是以流通为目的而组织起来的文献集合,做为一种特定的文献体系,它处于不间断地发展之中,其稳定性是相对的,而变动性是绝对的。我们要把握住社会对知识要求的发展规律,为图书馆建立和保持社会发展需要的这种特定的文献体系进行工作,这就是我们常说的藏书建设。收集为特定范围读者所需要的全部文献——即藏书补充和为精化藏书体系,提高藏书质量的藏书剔除工作,是搞好藏书建设的重要内容。它是图书馆工作的重要环节,是搞好图书馆工作的关键。
The collection of books in modern libraries is a collection of documents organized for circulation purposes. As a kind of specific document system, it is in an uninterrupted development. Its stability is relative and its change is absolute. We must grasp the laws governing the development of knowledge required by the society and work for this specific system of literature that libraries need to establish and maintain their social development. This is what we often call library construction. Collecting all the documents needed for a particular range of readers - that is, supplementing books and removing books for the purpose of refining the collection system and improving the quality of collections - is an important part of building a good collection of books. It is an important part of the library work, is the key to doing a good job in the library.
