郎世宁在清朝宫廷内绘制了大量作品,目前所见多为历史纪实画、人物肖像画、花鸟走兽画。而我在美国西海岸的斯坦福大学艺术博物馆中,却见到了一幅署名郎世宁的作品,其题材和内容都十分别致,与通常所见到的郎氏作品大异其趣。这幅郎世宁的作品名为《羊城夜市图》轴,绢本,水墨淡设色画,纵260厘米、横155厘米,悬挂于博物馆的东方艺术展厅内。画面的右下角有署款:“乾隆元年春三月,臣郎世宁恭绘”,下钤印章 Castiglione painted a large number of works within the court of the Qing Dynasty. At present, most of the works we have seen are historical documentary pictures, portraits of people, flowers and animals. And at the Stanford University Art Museum on the west coast of the United States, I saw a piece of artwork that was signed by Castiglione, whose themes and content are very chic and very different from those of Lang’s works.
