The recently released national “Eleventh Five-Year Plan” emphasizes that we must focus on the long-term and strengthen our basic research and cutting-edge technology research. Fundamental research is not only the source of high technology but also the necessary condition for enhancing the capability of independent innovation. It is also the best way to train creative talents. The improvement of our country’s independent innovation capability needs to be further strengthened in basic research.
