What should journalists know about a catastrophe of harm and exposure? In the years Boston was television reporter, the various disasters I reported were continuous: from familiar threats such as car accidents, fires, crime, aircraft explosions to artificial sweeteners , Insurance balloons, silicone breast implants, and then kidnapping to “new” trends and frustrating environmental hazards of all kinds. I tried my best to work as a journalist and also won some rewards. Later I left the Department of Public Information of the TV station to work at the Harvard School of Public Health and found many details about the risks. If I knew these things when I was a reporter, I could have done a better job of reporting.
