In the history of Cantonese-language movies in Hong Kong, the late 1940s and early 1950s was an important turning point. It was the famous “Clean Campaign” that went from being abusive to healthy and prosperous, and contributing to this fundamental change. Since the production of Hong Kong's own films, there have been two major categories of Mandarin and Cantonese. Although the coexistence of development has taken place, the overall proportion of the latter is large with a maximum annual output of more than 180.
