小柴胡汤是汉代张仲景《伤寒论》中的一首名方,主要用于伤寒、中风后,邪入少阳半表半里证的治疗。主方由柴胡、黄芩、党参、半夏、甘草、生姜、大枣等7味药组成,在《伤寒论》中表述功用为:伤寒5～6日,中风,往来寒热,胸胁苦满,嘿嘿不欲饮食,心烦喜呕,或胸中烦而不呕,或渴,或腹中痛,或胁下痞鞭,或心下悸,小便不利,或不渴,身有微热,或咳者,小柴胡汤主之。
