Wild Fever is the only whites-themed novel written by Richard Wright. Wright pointed out that the social, economic, and psychological pressures that blacks face also apply to white people. Euston Fuller’s heroic experience shows that retirement is a transitional period in which life turns from peak to trough. The psychological reactions such as anxiety and depression will aggravate the sense of loss and anxiety of people. The trough of life may be activated The subconscious formed at a young age leads to a transgression of reality and past emotions, which translates subconscious or unconscious resentments into conscious violence or abuse. An unreasonable social environment activates and exacerbates the wild nature that people would have been in a state of repression. In this paper, we use the basic principles of psychoanalysis to discuss the impact of retirement on human beings from the three aspects of anxiety, depression and abuse, as well as the terrible consequences and crises that resentment unconsciously and subconsciously turn into conscious states may reach the extreme.
