中国早、中泥盆世地层含有相当丰富的鹦鹉螺类化石,但经研究和记述的属、种并不多。其实,在早泥盆世埃姆斯期、中泥盆世艾菲尔期和吉维特期地层内现都采到了丰富的标本,它们在地层分布上有一定规律可循,可作为地层对比的手段之一。本文描述的材料各自采于广西和湖南早、中泥盆世地层内,共计有10个属、14个种、1个未定种和1个属、种未定,其中包括1个新属和14个新种。 As early as in China, the Middle Devonian stratum contains quite a large number of nautilus fossils, but not many species and species have been studied and described.
