湘早籼7号(原名怀早4号)是湖南怀化地区农科所1983年用早熟早籼81-280作母本,多抗早籼HA79317-4作父本杂交,于1986年育成的优质、高产、多抗中熟偏早早籼新品种,1989年12月经湖南省农作物品种审定委员会审定通过。被湖南省科委列为1989～1991年重点推广项目和湖南省农牧渔业丰收计划项目。
