臺灣的蔣經國基金會成立時,不少西方學者曾對其抱持保留態度,擔心它的運作將受限于狹窄的意識形態格局,或聽命于國民黨、或鼓吹反共主義及其他保守價值。但十年后的今天,這些揣測偏見應當早已因基金會的實際表現一掃而空。
When the founding of the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation in Taiwan, many Western scholars held reservations about it and feared that its operation would be confined to a narrow ideological structure, or be subject to the Kuomintang, or advocate anti-communism and other conservative values. But ten years from now, these speculative biases should have been swept away by the foundation’s actual performance.
