一、对存在对等习语的隐喻习语的翻译虽然汉英民族在民族心理、思维模式等方面存在较大差异,但是由于人类生存发展的共性,不同民族的人们在生活环境、生活经验方面总有共通或相似之处,因此如上所述,汉语中有些隐喻习语是可以在英语中找到相应的对等或相似表达法。对于《红楼梦》中出现的这样的隐喻习语,译者自然选择的是直译的翻译方法。例如第二十五回中:原文:贾母听了,如火上浇油一般。译文:This added fuel to the fire of the old lady’s anger.
