In order to strengthen the basic and clinical research of tumors, in December 1985, the experimental pathology room and biochemistry and immunology room of Zhejiang Provincial Cancer Hospital were established. The radiation biology room and the photo room established the Cancer Research Institute of Zhejiang Cancer Hospital. The first director was concurrently appointed by Professor Zhang Zongxian. In 1988, an epidemiology research laboratory was added. In April 1991, the Department of Health approved the upgrade to Zhejiang Provincial Cancer Institute. In 1997, additional molecular students were born
