在北京参加’96戏曲编剧进修班学习期间看了一些戏,我发现在剧场作商业演出的现代戏几乎没有,不禁联想起粤剧同样存在着这个问题。不知从何时起,省内各地粤剧团上演的大多是古装戏,除了极个别情形或特别的场合以外,现代戏几乎难以在城乡的演剧市场看到。有人认为,粤剧只适宜编演古装戏而不适宜编演现代戏。但我认为粤剧还是适宜编演现代戏的。戏曲艺术来源于生活,它是戏曲艺人对社会生活进行长期积累和提炼的结果。粤剧亦然,它的昨天是今天进步的基础,今天的成果是对昨天成就的丰富,这使戏曲艺术在发展中保持一种延续性。正是这种延续性,决定了任何一个剧种都具有编演不同时代的现代戏的艺术功能。粤剧现代剧目发展的历史说明:“古老的戏曲艺术有能力反映现代生活,为人民服务,为社会主义服务,而且只要发挥了戏曲艺术的特长,就可能获得其他姊妹艺术所不能达到的艺术效果。”(《当代中国戏曲》)我们也不否认,由于观众审美追求的变化和审美情趣的转移,加上当前各种文艺样式的生存竞争,引致粤剧现代戏
While attending a series of studies in the ’96 drama screenwriter training class in Beijing, I found that there were almost no modern plays for commercial performances in the theater. I can not help recalling the same issue of Cantonese opera. I do not know since when the performance of Cantonese opera troupes in most parts of the province is costume drama. Except for a few cases or special occasions, modern drama is hardly seen in the urban and rural drama market. Some people think that Cantonese opera is only suitable for the costume drama but not suitable for modern drama. But I think Cantonese opera is still suitable for modern drama. Drama art comes from life, which is the result of long-term accumulation and refinement of social life by opera artists. Cantonese opera is also true. Its yesterday is the basis for today’s progress. Today’s achievement is an enrichment of yesterday’s achievements, which has kept drama art in continuity. It is this continuity that determines that any one of the operas has the artistic function of modern theater in different epochs. The historical description of the development of modern drama in Cantonese opera shows: “The ancient art of opera has the ability to reflect the modern life, serve the people and serve the socialism.
