A brief overview of the characteristics of the dance culture and a description of the prom scene in Glinka and Tchaikovsky’s operas is provided. The scene of the dance in Tolstoy’s novels is compared with the same scenes in Prokofiev’s opera. The similarities and differences are analyzed and the reasons are analyzed. Emphasis is placed on the analysis of the male and female waltzes in the dance scene.
