图书是一种特殊的商品。没有市场的商品谈不上什么社会意义和经济意义。作为一个社会主义的出版工作者,将图书的社会意义放在首位责无旁贷。但坚持社会效益第一并非不讲经济效益。即使是专业出版社,为了求得出版社的生存和发展,也要力求做到两个效益的统一。为此,出版工作者的市场观念十分重要,用行业的话说,就是出书要适时对路。实践告诉我们,一本书只有适时对路才可能有最好的销售市场。去年开始,我国实行新的抗震设计规范,几乎与新规范颁布的同时,地震出版社推出了一套按新规范要求编写的《抗震设计丛书》(共8种),受到社会的好评,收到了良好的效益(初版平均印数逾1万,多种已重印)。
