霍霍巴是一种原产于美洲却以我国国名作为法定种加词的常绿油料植物，其生长习性耐旱、耐盐碱、耐瘠薄，可作为沙地种植产业的一种选择。它是种仁含有大量液体蜡质的唯一珍奇植物，其油有“金色液蜡”之美称。油中的化学成分特殊，为大量的长链不饱和脂肪酸和脂肪醇，极具潜在的应用前景和商业价值。可广泛地用于化妆品、药品、食品、润滑剂和其它精细化学品。我国虽有部分地区少量引种，但尚未形成市场、产生经济效益。研究的强度和开发的规模均有待加强。
Jojoba is an evergreen oil plant native to the Americas but the legal name for its country. Its growth habit is drought-tolerant, salt-tolerant and barren-resistant, and can be used as an alternative to sandy planting industry. It is the only exotic plant that contains a large amount of liquid wax, its oil has the reputation of “golden liquid wax.” Special chemical composition of oil, a large number of long-chain unsaturated fatty acids and fatty alcohols, very potential for application and commercial value. Can be widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, lubricants and other fine chemicals. Although a small amount of introduction in some areas of our country, but not yet formed a market, resulting in economic benefits.
