小学算术教学大纲（修订草案）中明白的向我们指出小学算术教学的目的：“主要是使儿童能够自觉地、正确地和迅速地进行整数运算，能够运用已经获得的知识、技能和技巧去解答算术应用题和解决日常生活中简单的计算问题。……”
The objective of primary school mathematics teaching is plainly pointed out in the Outline of the Primary School Math Syllabus (Revised Draft): “The main purpose is to enable children to perform integer arithmetic consciously, correctly and expeditiously and to apply the acquired knowledge, skills and techniques Arithmetic Applied Questions and Solutions to Simple Calculations in Everyday Life .... ”
