鄂州市总工会始建于1926年9月,至今已有80年历史。近年来．鄂州市总工会结合自身实际．积极争取党委领导和政府支持．不断增强自身活力,各项职能作用得到较好发挥。2003年至2005年连续三年荣获全省工会工作考核评比“优秀单位”．2005年5月被国家人事部,全国总工会联合授予“全国工会系统先进集体”。主动争取党委领导和政府支持．工会工作平台不断拓展。市委每年至少两次召开常委会议,集中听取工会工作汇报,畅通工会源头参与、参政议政．履行职能的渠道。市政府,各区政府、各街道办事处建立了与同级工会联席会议制度,为工会解决具体实际问题。在涉及职工切身利益的全市性综合协调领导机构中．工会都作为重要成员参加,确保了工会在市委市政府进行重大决策和重要工作部署中充分表达职工的意愿和要求。从2005年起．市目标管理工作领导小组办公室将工会工作列入对全市各区、各街道办事处、市直各单位年度考核必达目标。
