Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is widely distributed on various blood cells and vascular endothelial cells. Platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 mediates leukocyte-endothelial adhesion and adhesion reactions by participating in complex inter-ligand interactions, leading to coronary vascular endothelial injury. It has been found that platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1 L125V, S563N and R670G three gene polymorphisms showed a strong linkage disequilibrium. This article describes the molecular and gene structure, function, distribution of polymorphonuclear adhesion molecule-1 and its relationship with coronary heart disease.
