在连铸过程中不预热热中包重复使用的目的在于改善板坯质量，降低成本。侵入式水口快速更换装置及剩余钢液快排出装置的应用，使中包维修能够在两个浇次准备期间得已完成。１９９３年２月实现了每个中包连续使用５００炉。
