自19世纪20年代美国开始在中学设置化学课程以来,美国的中学化学课程改革历经了19世纪末20世纪初的进步主义教育运动,20世纪50、60年代的科学教育改革,20世纪60年代中期到70年代中期的教育个性化、人本化运动,20世纪80年代后的以提高学生科学素养为宗旨的科学教育改革浪潮。美国不同历史时期的这些教育改革运动,都对美国的中学化学课程产生了深刻的影响,促进了美国中学化学课程从19世纪到21世纪的改革与发展。
