佛坪穹窿基底岩石是南秦岭出露的众多古老块体之一．由太古代结晶基底和中元古代过渡性基底组成．前者由中一深变质的佛坪岩群（Ar3f）和龙草坪超单元（Ar3l）组成；后者为中元古代基性火山岩变质形成的九关沟岩群（Pt2j）．两类基底的确定为佛坪地区太古代及中元古代地质演化的研究提供了证据．
Foping dome basement rock is one of the many ancient blocks exposed in the South Qinling Mountains. By the Archean crystalline basement and the ancient transitional basement elements. The former consists of the Middle-Middle metamorphic Foping Group (Ar3f) and Longcaoping Super-Unit (Ar3l), and the latter is the Jiuguan Gorge Group (Pt2j) formed by the metamorphism of the Mesoproterozoic basic volcanic rocks. The determination of two types of basement provides evidence for the study of the Archean and Mesozoic geological evolution in the Foping area.
