P. 211) The media revolution is not a feat of the twentieth century. We seldom realize that the way in which information is received in the Western world has been completely constrained by planar vectors of words and pictures since the mass diffusion of Gutenberg typography. Today nearly 175 years of modern Western architectural experience (see Cervin Robinson and Jo Hechman, Joel Herschman, Building in Transition: Photography History of Buildings from 1839 to the New York: MIT Press , 1990), has been repeatedly influenced by photography or other print media.
