The Han Dynasty sarcophagus is a unique research field in the study of the relationship between the religious thoughts and the stone figures of the Han Dynasty. This paper takes the Han Dynasty sarcophagus of the Three Gorges Museum in China as the research object. These sarcophagi mostly originated from the Sichuan Basin and the surrounding areas in the late Eastern Han Dynasty. On the basis of archeology and aesthetics, the author systematically and scientifically combined the sarcophagus with the methods of religion and semiology to make a comparative study with the characteristics of the sarcophagus prevalent in Sichuan Basin. The conclusion is drawn that the close relationship between the sarcophagus portrait structure, the layout law, the formal beauty and the exploration and religious thought provides a new perspective for the study of the relationship between the sarcophagus of the Han Dynasty portrait and religious thought.
