石壁村,古称“玉山”“玉璧”。宋代建村时,毗邻“世界东方第一大港泉州”的玉山村村北有奇石陡起,形似峭壁,故称“石壁”。宋属泉州府安仁乡江阴里,元、明、清属廿三都,民国属复兴乡,1949年属晋江县第九区,1961年设置蚶江人民公社石壁大队,1984年称晋江县蚶江乡石壁村,1988年改隶石狮市蚶江镇石壁村。村民总数1100多人,均为林氏。移居台湾的人数多于本村。20世纪90年代初,村中设立玉山台商投资区,成为石狮市最早吸引台商集中投资创业的村庄。
Shek Pik village, ancient name “Yushan ” “jade Bi ”. When the Song Dynasty built the village, adjacent to the “world’s largest port of Quanzhou,” the village of Yushan steep north, shaped like a cliff, so called “stone wall ”. Song is a Quanzhou Anren Township Jiangyin, Yuan, Ming and Qing are twenty-three, the Republic of China is Fuxing Township, 1949 is the ninth district of Jinjiang County, set in 1961 Qijiang people’s commune Shek Pik, 1984, Jinjiang County, said Qijiang Township Rock Village, 1988 Shishi City, Qiongjiang Town, Shek Pik village. The total number of villagers more than 1100, are Lin. More people moved to Taiwan than to their own village. In the early 1990’s, the village set up an investment zone for Taiwanese businessmen in Taiwan and became the first village in Shishi to attract Taiwanese entrepreneurs to invest and start their own businesses.
