Objective To study the seasonal variation and monitoring environment distribution of adult flies in the downtown area of Shanghai, and to grasp the distribution of time and space information to provide the basis for the prevention and control of flies. Methods Two parks and one residential area in the downtown area of Shanghai were selected as the monitoring points for adult mosquitoes. Cage induction was conducted in late March to late November 2013 to identify and analyze adult fly. Results The density of environmental adult flies in urban centers in Shanghai was significantly higher than that in residential areas (Z = -2.870, P = 0.002). Although residential and park environments were dominated by Pythium (64.14%, 73.99% And 54.91%, respectively). However, the composition and structure of dominant flies were not the same. The environmental foraging species in residential areas were giant tail flies and green flies, with the proportions of 20.11% and 14.55%, respectively. And bright green flies, the constituent ratios were 23.43% and 15.17% respectively. Seasonal distribution, the different peak species and distribution trends were significantly different, Kingfly and bright green flies showed a single peak trend, while Lucilia serici, giant tail Allamanda and Lairzona flies showed a bimodal trend. Conclusion The improvement of sanitation environment in Shanghai urban area plays an important role in reducing the flies breeding in residential environment. However, the flies in park environment should not be neglected. The flies in Shanghai urban area are dominated by the flies, green flies and other flies, flies prevention and control measures should be based on the dominant flies to carry out the prevention and control of breeding places.
