After more than one railway accident in 2003, the Indian Minister of Railways proposed to the Parliament a $ 6.94 billion 10-year plan to improve the road safety of 63,000 km. A railway safety technical committee was set up to work with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources Development, the Technical Society and the Industry Alliance to implement the plan. Priority work is to enrich the work of railway security, and to 50 to 57-year-old line workers
