小麦、玉米是衡水市的主要粮食作物，全市年种植小麦２９万公顷，玉米２２万公顷。目前小麦生产在耕、播、收等主要作业环节已基本实现机械化作业，农民已在小麦收获上摆脱了“面朝黄土背朝天”的手工劳作。但玉米收获仍靠“一镐一棵玉米秸，一天到晚不敢歇”原始的收获方式。?
