纵观郁达夫留日和回国期间的作品创作主题及风格的变化,期间贯穿着一定的文化思维逻辑联系:如果说他留日期间的作品,是以自我想象的情感逻辑形式,完成了对个体生命的体悟和对自由解放的思考,那么回国后的作品则是以群体观照的理性逻辑方式,完成了对同阶层民族命运的探寻和追求,并最终在积极参与国家民族的文化救亡活动中完成了自我的思想解放和审美自由。这样的变化过程较有代表性地反映了同一时代部分现代知识分子精神文化探寻的逻辑思维过程,即通过由个体命运到群体命运再到国家民族命运的观照,继承和延续了中国历代知识分子追寻自我解放的心路历程,体现了历代知识分子自觉地把个体命运和国家民族命运联系在一起的可贵的精神品质。
