When the CDC entered the third decade from 1966 to 1975, domestic and international changes drove its development. When the decade began, it was the National Center for Infectious Disease Control. After ten years of acceptance, it became the Center for Disease Control of the Department of Public Health Services of the US Department of Health, Education, and Social Welfare. By 1965, the CDC had become a national infectious disease control resource.
