缪尔是美国著名的自然散文作家,其作品蕴含着丰富、超前的生态理念:消解人类中心主义,倡导生态整体观,捍卫大自然的价值和权力;揭批人类对大自然的种种僭越行为,提倡敬畏大自然,保护大自然;崇尚融入大自然、精神至上、简朴悠闲的生活,垂范以生态审美的方式对待大自然。这些生态意蕴无不浸染着缪尔笃信的泛神论,显然有一定的局限性,但对美国的理论界、生态文学创作和荒野保护实践却都产生了深远影响。可以说,缪尔散文蕴含的生态理念尽管局限明显,但却意义重大。
Muir is a famous American natural prose writer. His works contain rich and advanced ecological concepts: hedging anthropocentrism, advocating ecological holism, defending the value and power of nature; exposing and criticizing human being’s various acts of nature over nature, Advocate awe of nature, protect nature; Advocate integration into nature, the spirit of the supremacy, simple and laid-back life, vertical form of ecological aesthetic way of treating nature. These ecological implants, all of which infiltrate Muir believe in pantheism clearly have some limitations. However, they all have far-reaching effects on the theoretical circles, ecological literary creation and wilderness protection practices in the United States. It can be said that Muir’s essay contains the ecological concept despite the obvious limitations, but it is of great significance.
