Into the Atlantic of the Brittany Peninsula, at the entrance of the English Channel, is an important port of France on the Atlantic coast. There is an island town on the shores of Saint-Malo, whose name originated in the sixth century as a British missionary named Marlow, who preached here. It is located in the northwestern corner of France, part of the Old City was originally a completely independent island, thirteenth Century and the mainland through the isthmus together. It was the site of the Principality of Celtic more than 1,000 years ago and was merged by France in 1532, but its distinctive local character is still very strong and very different from that of France elsewhere.
