The study of musical performance is a meeting point between different disciplines. In this lecture, Professor Cook will explore some of the scientific methods that have been used to study performance and place them in a broader context of the continuing controversy over digital humanity. This lecture chooses Schubert’s “Improvised G major in improvisation” and Chopin “Matzuka” works 63 3 as a case study to discuss how computer science can facilitate the combination of in-depth listening and corpus analysis, and this The method is able to tell us what kind of information about the cultural significance of a performance.
