Mainly introduces the teaching method of Undergraduate Design Studio Intermediate 1 of AA School of Architecture in London. Under the guidance of Mark Campbell and Stuart Dodd, studio members are devoted to studying abandoned buildings in the United States and whales stubbornly living in them through explorations, surveys, writing, discussion, photography, video recording, cartography and design. Households. These studies show our interest in the operation of architecture in the broader socio-cultural, technological and historical systems. If we accept Siegfried Gideon’s view that architecture is a sign of social subconsciousness, in the United States, the role of architecture often shows the country’s decline as a world superpower. Under this picture, architecture is a by-product of this decline or discard. In the past three years, Intermediate 1 conducted research on the Mississippi Delta, Lake Salmon, California, and Detroit, Michigan. Inspired by Reina Achatham, we try to examine the dilapidated buildings, potential opportunities for development, and, most importantly, the identity of “future-proof archeologists” People’s situation. Through these efforts, Intermediate 1 attempts to question the absolute reliability of the building while exploring the possibility of outdated construction.
