Compounds commonly known as nitrosamines are a class of intense chemical carcinogens that can elicit many animal malignancies. The exact names of these compounds are N-nitroso compounds, including nitrosamines and nitrosamides. Similar compounds include azo compounds and triazene compounds. This article is not related to these related compounds, only a brief overview of the progress of the N-nitroso compounds, nitrosamines and nitrosamines and cancer research.
