民族乡是我国在少数民族聚居的地方依法建立的乡级行政区域，全国有1200多个，基本地处中小城市边缘，自然环境一般较差，生产、生活相对落后，教育的发展更是滞后。扶贫先扶智，教育要先行。要全面建设小康社会，搞好民族乡教育事业十分重要。
