At 5:40 p.m. on May 19, 2005, the trial of the 23rd courtroom on the third floor of the Intermediate People’s Court of Tongzhou District in Beijing and the complex fame and credit lawsuit between two art critics, Wu Hong and Zhang Zhaohui, proceeded to court. Because this reputation infringement case involves anonymous letters, repentance books, unspoken rules and influential colleges and websites, some art circles privately claim that this is the largest case that attracts artists to attend on the spot. There were dozens of curators, such as Liao Wen, who were seated in the audience. Wu Hong’s lawyer represented Wang Nanming, an art critic who came from Shanghai. During the trial of the day, the two sides have already given their own evidence. At the same time, the defendant Wu Hong also filed a counterclaim on the spot and the judge decided to hold the court session again.
