插齿刀是切削工具中的一种,像齿轮的形状而有刀刃。插齿刀是装在插齿机上以切削齿轮的。插齿刀的节圆与被加工齿轮的节圆相切滚动,没有滑动。除此以外,插齿刀还沿着工作物轴的方向往复运动,这是主要的切削运动。[图一]表示插齿刀的工作图。插曲刀向下运动时切削工作物,往上运动时离开工作物,切削中断。插齿刀与工作物的滚动是一种连续的运动;由于滚动的速度及吃刀的深度决定在一个齿沟内的卫程数。
