研究板胡的流变及其发展,我以为应从它的历史、使用、影响和在乐队的地位等方面来研究,从而来考察它的功能、价值及其变化。 相传在明嘉靖隆庆年间(1522~1572年),流行于江苏的昆山腔的乐队中就用了一种类似板胡(板面、椰壳)的乐器——提琴,它还用于明清时代的昆曲清唱伴奏和丝竹乐的合奏。从《金瓶梅词话》(刊于明万历年间)的“演戏图”乐人演奏提琴的图来看,可对当时提琴的使用情况有个大概的了解。板胡从长期在民间流传的自生状态,到人们有意识、有选择地使用并得到流传和发展,是和明末清初戏曲梆子腔的兴起有关。
